Meterosideros thomasii

With silvery green new growth appearing through the year Meterosideros thomasii makes an excellent hedging plant. Also known as the New Zealand Christmas Bush although it has a somewhat open habit it does take well to pruning.

Attractive red spidery flowers in summer Meterosideros thomasii can also be used as a feature plant in the border and as it tolerates wind and salt it is an excellent choice for seaside locations.

Generally available from tube stock through to advanced specimens of 1.5m.

Care

• Good drainage is essential
• A humus rich well drained soil
• Fertilize with a slow release fertilizer in late winter to spring
• Regular rather than hard pruning is best
