Dietes grandiflora
One of the toughest and long flowering species Dietes grandiflora is widely used in cottage gardens as well as commercial landscaping projects. It is generally available from wholesalers as tubestock ready for planting.
Summer flowering, the individual blooms appear sequentially and are attractive to bees.
Lance shaped foliage is attractive year round and as Dietes grandiflora grows well in both full sun and part shade its applications in landscaping are many.
Flowers are white with yellow and purple patches. Frost tolerant, drought tolerant and low maintenance once established.
Planting Dietes grandiflora
Best planted in areas away from bushland as it can tend to self seed and become a little weedy. However in urban commercial landscapes it is a valuable low maintenance asset.
For mass planting space Dietes grandiflora at around 40 - 50 cm apart.
Available from tudestock sizes for mass planting through to larger 200mm pots.
