Cymbopogon refractusWith the common name of 'Barbred Wire Grass', Cymbopogon refractus is grassy like perennial that will reach around .5 with seed heads to 1m, and over time form a small clump or tussock. Its value lies in the ability to grow in poor soils, both coastal and inland. Grown both for its ornamental nature with attractive seed heads, as well as a fodder plant. Cymbopogon refractus is an excellent choice for growing beneath Euacalyptus trees in landscaping areas where it copes well in these difficult conditions. Seed can be sown directly for larger areas although viro tubes from wholesale nurseries are more suited to commercial landscaping. Plant at 4 - 6 per sqm. CareFull sun to part shade in areas that are constantly damp or boggy. Fresh to brackish water is suitable.
