Carex appressaCarex appressa is commonly known as 'Tall Sedge'. Although it is widely used wetland situations and revegetation projects it is also suited to dry areas. This versatility make Carex appressa a valuable plant for areas subject to poor drainage in winter or wet seasons along with dry periods. A clumping grass like plant that can reach up to 1m in height, the foliage is fairly upright with a nice arching habit, slightly serrated. Small fruit or nuts appear after flowering. Well suited for planting in the margins of ponds, dams and urban wetland projects, especially those that are subject to seasonal dryness. CareFull sun to part shade and tolerant of a range of soil types. Little maintenance is required although clumps can be cut back by 2/3 every 3 years to tidy up.
