Araucaria heterophyllaBest known ny its common name of the 'Norfolk Pine', Araucaria heterophylla, this is a tall graceful tree that is widely found in coastal plantings especilly on Australias east coast. Originally from Norfolk Island, the 'Norfolk Pine' is so widely used, the fact it is not native to Australia is often overlooked. It is the most widely used of the genus in landscaping in coastal areas and can also be found in country towns across NSW, Victoria and Queensland. Best planted away from roads and paths as it root system is close to the surface and will quickly lift paved areas. Easily reaching 30 meters over time, very young trees are also grown in containers and used as Christmas trees. Summary
