Agave desmettiana

Commonly called 'El Miradores Gold', Agave desmettiana is widely used in landscaping for opts strong architectural properties.

Evergreen and well suited to growing in containers as well as in the garden this is a large growing agave that will reach around 4m in height with a spread of around 3m.

Long fleshy leaves are held upright near the centre and will arch gracefully around the perimeter. One feature is the lack of sharp spines on the foliage, this makes it a little friendlier in commercial landscaping.

Generally readily available in smaller sizes, larger plants can be harder to source.

Care

Planted in a container as a feature plant Agave desmettiana, El Miradores Gold' is a standout. In mass plantings it will happily form a clump over the years before flowering.

Drought tolerant once established and subject to very few pests this is a care free landscaping plant in a sunny position in a well drained soil.
